I believe that discipline can promote the development of personality. Many factors can prove this view, but I think, the followings are the best argument. At the first place, discipline can create a good social environment, and promote the development of personality. Marxist theory of materialist dialectics include the discuss of freedom and law, some of these views think that people set down law in order to make every one independent and free. So law don’t limit the development of personality, and to some degreed, discipline can promote personality to grow healthly. Secondly, organizational discipline can help the development of personality, and at the same time, so does the latter promote the first. College students should develop their qualities such as body quality, psychological make-up, ideological and moral quality, intelligent quality. These qualities need some organizational discipline to lead personal action. People can not have ability to practise their personality until in stable and orderly environment. Organizational discipline is a premise for the development of personality. As the saying goes, no discipline, no circumference. Organizational discipline is a propriety, criterion, restriction, and it is also some action that restrict individual. Looking at both macro and micro world have no discipline. Individual existence and development all are done in the "surrounding area" within the rules. Without the "surrounding area", I think this world would not be the world. In our society which is made up of every individual, a wide range of disciplines are need in order to develop and progress it. Therefore, in essence, there is not conflict between organizational discipline and character development. We can not have a better space for us to develop individuality until have good organizational discipline. In a word, discipline can promote the development of personality.

I agree the view released by the author above me.Freedom is not absolute but relative.with the help of law and discipline,the whole society can work harmoniously and people can get on with each other peacefully without disturb or destroy others’ benefits.No matter a country or a city even a basic unit familty which is a cell of the society needs some common  behavioral principles to protect the public order from being damaged.As we all know ,person is the most active and important element in our society.If we want the society developed positively forward we must ensure the person lived around us have good personality such as abiding by the law 、honesty、holding professional morality and so on.
Take our forum(http://www.readfree.net/bbs/index.php) as an example.Why so much board rules have been formulated? The reason is simple,all we have done  is on the purpose of promising our bbs develop healthily.In fact,these board rules is also discipline. Although the bbs is a virtual world,the participator is real human in real-life world.with the aid of the special discipline put out by http://www.readfree.net/bbs/index.php,these members of our forum dare not irrigate and plagiarize others production as mine.Everything is going on under the surveillance of these board principal  and  other members .We are being personalized by these “discipline” gradually unconsciously.

Good environment that discipline can need our individual character development . The good environment can promote people's development of the day after tomorrow , like having sufficient sunshine, flowers will just be in full bloom more bright-coloredly . The development of the same student's individual character needs the good environment as the guarantee too, could play a driving role to it . Discipline can build an environment in perfect order for us , the better one promotes the development of individual character . Taking discipline of the school as an example, its original intention made is for safeguard interests of wide university students, safeguard the fair normal development that guaranteed to study the work; And the development of student's ability , including cognitive ability , technical ability , morality ,etc., all form and develop progressively in the normal study and life. In the good atmosphere, our knowledge technical ability is got abundantly , sentiment morality is moulded , the individual is respected, our uniqueness gets further development too.
Discipline can point out a correct direction for us , make our individual character develop healthily. . People's life is all the course of carrying on socializedly, that is to say from natural person to the course which social people change, its final purpose is dissolving into the society. Discipline is often thought as constraining the development of personality. However, we must ask first "what kind of personality?" Since the time of Thomas Hobbes, theorists had realised that morality and public institution originates from the need of living together peacefully. And there will certainly have no art, science or philosophy, neither will there be the material production like that in our society, because such production requires the cooperation of different people. Can disciplines promote the development of personality? The answer may be different from different people. However, in my opinion, the answer will be no.

To begin with, I think disciplines and personalities are not the things which can help each other so that both have a good development. Just like in most common situations, one can not expects water can make fire more strong. The relations between discipline and personality are just the same as that between water and fire. Discipline makes people to do things according to it, and as a result, what can not be avoided is that humans' personalities are confined. The personalities may be killed more or less as long as there are disciplines being made.  

Next, disciplines are made by people who situated at the high circle of the society, that is, disciplines are acquired, whereas personalities are connatural. People who make disciplines have special rights and may get special benefits. Their attitudes must be that everyone must obey disciplines because the disciplines are advocated that they are consonant with most people's benefits. However, the actual situations are difficult to judge because most common people have not the chance and abilities to let their views get to know by everyone as same as the authorities do, and many disciplines may only coincide with some special gainers but not most common people. The only effect of such disciplines is to kill personalities.  

Finally, discipline may confine the development of personality, however, we have to accept many disciplines and obey them. To do this does not result to disaster, on the contrary, no disciplines will do. Maybe this is the saddest feature for humans: without restrictions, most people make full use of their personalities, tend to do things that they want, and never take other people's benefits into account. So, too many personalities may also not be good things for us. After all, personality is just something of individual character, and it is not equal to creativity. I think the social discipline  constraint individuality development certainly，it also is reflecting in big fetter individual in the paternal line, moreover also has the obvious trace in the modern life, just like the present or many people to love not the favored daughter, and also once for a while there are some  people make some filthy matter like that.
   The discipline can affect the individuality, the discipline exists in the different scope and the type, it appears along with the individuality object appearance. Firstly, I surpport this opinion.

A folksay says that  nothing can be done without norm or standard. Discipline is a guarantee rather than a ristrict for us. It provide a god-given development platform for us when it ristricts us. Discipline makes us matured, perfect and successful.

Battle effectiveness of an army is comes from iron discipline, and survival of companies comes from strict bylaws. Without specific bylaws, confusion will happen. If there is one to go on with anything on his own will, the situation will be worse.

Laws, school rules, traffic rules etc, are all be closely bound up with us.  Now that there are rules ,we must do as rules say. Making rules needs the great surpport of executing rules.With the development of soceity, thoughts of  human beings are changing. When some rules can not adapt to the development of  fertility, we will change them. We can not  go on with routinism. Or else, they will make us stagnant.

Rules need us to feed. The development of us needs it to give us some wise advice. Discipline is rule. If there is no discipline, there will no rule. So, everyone should obey the discipline. If someone disobey it ,he will obtain punishment.

Discipline can do a lot of things for us. For example, it can make us to develop a good habbit. The habbit will lead your own individuality. If you are working in companies, good habbits will result in prize, but if you don't obey the discipline, i think you can imagine the result of you.

Well, i agree with the idea that discipline will promote the personality development. there are three main reasons that i wanna to talk it.

First, there is no perfct free to enjoy. there have some rules to obey, then you can live in the world. For one person's development, there also need some rules to obey, then building your own personality.

Second, discipline can give you endure, and more harder. If you experienced these, for example, being a student, you have to obey the classroom discipline in order to not influencing other people. You can consider others, others will consider you. During the partice, you can own your personality attracting.

Last, a man's life is a discipline life. Every work need different discipline. If you have graduated from school, when you go to the work, you will experience it deeply. For example, when you get married, they also have a "marry law" at the beging of your life. No perfect free in the world, you should to obey some rules, then you can have a better life. And your personality evelopment is more magic.

After all, i agree that discipline will promote the personality development.

To some extent, I would like to agree that discipline do help to construct a healthy personality.
The road to success is often long and weary. It is easy to give up in the face of adversity or to relax and take it easy in times of plenty. It is much easier to daydream about how we would like things to be than to plan on the basis of cold, hard facts. Self-discipline is a sure sign of maturity, but there is no quick and easy way to achieve it.
The maturing personality goes through three distinct areas of discipline:
The ability to accept discipline from others.
The ability to apply discipline to others.
The ability to discipline oneself.
Only a comparatively small number of people learn to discipline themselves effectively. These are the ones who achieve their goals, because they won't let themselves settle for less than success. They have learned to make the best use of self-control.
If you haven't already concentrated on it, you can be sure a healthy increase in your life awaits you if you begin discipline your activities more effectively.
However, Discipline, by its nature, means one who follows it will suicide his some characteristics out of harmony with the said discipline. From the view of this point, Discipline will hurt one's personality rather than cultivate it.

Discipline can promote the development of personality. Many examples can prove that  this point  of  view  is  right.

    Firstly, Creating a good social environment is  in great need of  serious discipline, and the good social environment  is  the  condition  of  development of personality. people set down all kind of disciplines  in order to make every one independent and free. Nobody can  develop his personality if  he live in  a  bad social environment.

   Secondly, complying with  discipline is also  the  gold personality, everyone can’t  be lack of  the  personality.People who  comply with  seriously  can always get on well with his colleagues .Everyone who want to develop the spirit of  team  must be able to  comply  with  discipline. That is to say,development of personality need discipline.Discipline can promote the development of personality indeed.

according some people, discipline will bring no good to the forming of personality,but I believe the opposite is true.firstly,personality should obey the discipline,without the urgement of discipline,the personality will bring kinds of troubles to others.secondly.discipline is useful to lend the forming of personality  in a righe way. a world without any discipline is unavoible to be mussy. no one can benifit from a world out of any order. It is ,of course ,bring kinds of trouble to personality.
